A MyLupusTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi everyone
I am on my 3rd Rheum, he refuses to admit that I have any type of Lupus. My Ana titer is 1:320 Homogeneous, my anti dsdna is 26 out of a possible 4...I have a strange rash that no one can figure out what is. I have inflammation in my eyes, sores in my mouth, etc But, he refuses to diagnose me b/c my Anti RO/ SS is only greater than 0.2 same result with my Anti LA/SS B......The complement 3 and 4 aren't good enough either C3 being 174 out of a possible 180 and C4 is 38 out of… read more

Everyone is different and it seems there is no definite combo of test results in lupus. Some have low compliment levels...some people’s are always normal. Some will have a raised sed rate, some never will

The ANA Homogenous and the positive dsDNA should be enough along with your symptoms! I’m sorry you’re going through this

Perhaps they are thinking your psoriatic arthritis is causing the symptoms and the antibodies? 😳

BTW....anti Ro and anti La, or even Jo don’t have to be positive in lupus! It’s like they want your tests to tick every single box that might ever show up with lupus. That’s not how the disease works

🙏 Wishing you find a good doctor

Hi
Recently dx'd with cutaneous lupus have had sjogrens syndrome and raynauds for years. You mentioned a rash, my lupus dx actually came from the dermatologist doing a biopsy of a rash that I had for months the rash was misdiagnosed by 2 previous doctors. Suggest a dermatologist visit for a biopsy if you haven't already done that.
Good luck hope you find some answers and relief.

You sound like me, I went through a couple rheumatologists, reaaallly bad ones, before finding my current one. She's great. But my tests were always a mystery. I basically dxd myself with psoriatic arthritis, which is famous for not showing in labs. But I had obviously psoriatic nails, and clear joint pain.
Now with lupus tests, I'm wondering same things as you. I always have low sed rate, I am negative for all typical lupus things like ANA. But my complement c4 is so low as to be nonexistent. And I have a lot of clinical symptoms, but am missing a couple key ones like facial rash. So I find the dx confusing too.
I hope your rheumy gets on board, or you find a better one soon! Good luck!
